The MLS and the Los Angeles Galaxy have approved David Beckhams mid-season loan to AC Milan.
AC Milan’s sporting director Umberto Gandini has stated that Beckham will only stay until the MLS decides to call him back.
“The deal is for as long as David wishes but I think he’s committed to MLS and LA Galaxy will bring him back after a couple of months I think,” he told Sky Sports News.
“I think he will have to go back to MLS by the time it starts and training before that. A final date has not been agreed yet, but obviously it’s down to MLS to decide.”
“David is committed to LA Galaxy. We thank them for letting him play and train with us,” he added. “Only David knows his future. He has a commitment to MLS and I’m sure he’ll fulfill that.”
“At our club Beckham will have a lot of people and a lot of players that have his ability and his status so I think he will be very beneficial for him and the English game.”
“David is coming as a Milan player. He will train with the other Milan players and his selection will be up to the coaches as it is everywhere.”
English manager Fabio Capello also felt that Milan had made a good signing.
“Milan has made a good acquisition,” said England manager Fabio Capello, who coached Beckham at Real Madrid and England. “In Madrid, I dropped him from the team because he signed with Los Angeles, but he continued to come and train and I put him back on the team.”
Beckham will link up with the Italian club on December 20th in Dubai for medical testing, and will be unveiled a week later. Beckham’s stay will only be for 3 months, as he will be returning March when the MLS begins again.

Julio Grondona, the head of the Argentine federation, has confirmed that Diego Maradona is the manager for Argentina.
“There is a before and after Maradona in Argentine soccer, which is full of success, results and good competition,” said Grondona.
Lionel Messi, who Maradona criticized earlier, seemed eager to start under the superstar.
“Those are things that you say at the time. I know Diego appreciates me and I don’t hold any grudges,” Messi told Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday. “There’s no problem. He’s a great and I admire him for what he gave to Argentine football.”
Already the papers have expressed their doubts in Maradona.
“Excitement and controversy: Maradona heads to the national team,” read La Nacion’s headline Wednesday. La Nacion sports columnist Daniel Arcucci questioned whether “Diego was risking the Maradona myth” by taking on the position.
Maradona celebrates his birthday Thursday, and this will likely be the best gift of all. We wish him all the best.

Freddie Ljungberg has officially joined MLS expansion team Seattle Sounders (horrible name by the way).
Ljungberg, who was released by West Ham this summer after his contract expired, seemed excited to begin his career with the club during their 2009 campaign.
“Fortunately, I had many opportunities and offers from around Europe and the rest of the world during the last few months, including Seattle to play in MLS,” he said.
“After thoughtful considerations I decided this opportunity with Seattle was the right one for me. Seattle is a great city. I know this part of the world quite well.
“The club itself has such great ambition and the fans over here are very passionate about their team. I am very excited about the potential of the club and cannot wait to start the new season in 2009.”
Ljungberg’s contracted is rumored to be about $20 million
